There is a serious problem with this site as far as UK/European members are concerned. Their copyright only allows lists to be played in certain countries. Consequently, last night they disabled the playing of any music in these countries. This means when a go to a site that has Playlist.com installed the page hangs for quite sometime before allowing the viewing of photos etc.

This event has spoiled the process of viewing other members work that has this widget installed.

Perjaps we should take a leaf out of I Draw&Paint and have our own music widget????

There is a Music Widget that can be enabled in Ning software. However, the individual posting it must possess the song first, then there are international copyright laws prohibiting reproduction without permission to deal with. What playlist does can not be contolled by us. allwe have is a hypertext link to the playlist on their site. If they restrict by country they hold the security to it.

So you are saying that ruining the experience for any European member is O.K.? Sorry but you could point this out to all members and ask them to remove it. IDraw has a widget where you can upload your own music and play it. But the site would be better off without music all together than jave this sickening wait while the widget adjusts itself. The unfortunate thing is you cant even get off a page once you are there until the widget has finished doing whatever it does!

Hi Keith, so the playlists aren't working and that's why the pages are sticking for those of us that have playlists, is that right?
I often type messages to people and then find that they don't send! This is frustrating especially if one has spent a while composing a newsy or amusing comment.............and then one has to start all over again. Should we delete the playlists? Please advise?

Zoe go to the page. Leave it for a while - more songs in your playlist the longer it will take but it will eventually allow you access. Press the 'edit' immediately above where your player is then delete all the code from inside and save and there you are you are back again. I have just been to your page... It takes forever but it does eventually resolve itself. This single event has spoiled my favourite place to be,

I'm not saying anything about ruining anything for anyone anywhere in the world. The Widgets are the programming of third parties. The playlist.com content is in actuality on Playlists web server where ever in the world that is. What you see on CC or any other site is nothing more that an HTML link that displays the content as it appears there. It is a hypertext link. If it doesn't work here it isn't working there because the link can only display
what it is told to acquire there. The third party widgets are also code. All they do is link to the app on a 3rd party server. How they act is totally out of our control. Look around and see what you can find. Install the widget on your page if you wish. Again you are responsible for the content as far as the author of the music is concerned. If it is a service that allows the playing of music like Playlist.com or just a file manager that allows you to upload your own.

All I am asking is simple: Could the the management make a general announcement pointing this problem out and then if users prefer to keep it, it's their responsibility if people do not visit their site. I am perfectly aware of how widgets work - I owned a software company for 35 years an d I agree you have no control but surely you have the ability to warn your members of the pitfalls and the latest bugs etc.

This isn't the first time that Playlist has done this too it's European members. As much as I like having music on my page (and so do some my friends who visit) I'm going to delete my music player and not bother putting another one on. It's just too much hassle every time it gets taken off.

I've tried 2 times to type in an explaination of some of the problems besetting members and each time I do I get mysteriously logged off and the message is lost. Yes there are serious problems with Nings software my friend and we are trying to get the word out.
Hang in there

I've always wondered about playlist as so many people have it and wondered if copyright didn't apply to some of the music played. I still can't figure out if it is legal or what so never bothered trying to put it on my page.
