Hey Pencileers,

Hey Teresa,

Maybe I'll be more active when the weather gets warmer. I haven't been doing so hot health wise for the past couple of months. No cancer but just one thing after another to keep me miserable.

I've been looking around and it seems I'm not the only one with the winter blaghs.

I have joined just now im completely new to colored pencils but i have attempted to make a landscape my first one using coloured pencils but some how i have made it untidy. Please can someone help me with some tips i need it badly so that i wont repeat those mistakes again. I even want to know that which brand colour pencils would be best for use.For this landscape i have used faber castle water soluble pencils but i did not like it so far.

I have just started to use coloured pencils I suppose more out of curiosity,I must have been a youngster when I last did a drawing using them.
Have been browsing the site and could see a lot of names which I recognized,so here I am and willing to learn.

My first 2 efforts I have completed after partially reading a book by Beverley Johnston "Coloured Pencil Techniques". I suppose I am reasonably pleased and would welcome constructive opinions or guidance.

The first picture is of an old Standby vessel and the second is a still life which I set up.

Never mind, Tom. I thing I'd feel really, I can't think of the word, rich? privileged, spoiled? It doesn't matter. The point is we deserve it! That's my take on it. Wallis Simpson said "You can never be too rich or too thin" Well, I think you can never have enough thick creamy paper, or rich colors or divinely smooth pencils. Good on us all, I say.

Hey Teresa, I resemble that remark. LOL And it gets worse all the time. Sigh, so many art supplies, so little time.

I was going to ask you, Teresa, if your Caran D'Ache pencils were watercolor. The C. D. crayons I use are. They are extrememly soft, so you get a kind of oil paint brush stroke effect. Wonderful for covering your mistakes. LOL. I am using the Faber Castell Aquarelle pencils as well.
They have cheap, rather hard, student set of 12, 18, 24. etc. I got a set of 18, thinking they were the good ones, I don't know why, they were so cheap. The good Faber ones are called Albrecht Durer. (The Wax are called Polychromos) I use a lot of the white & cream colors and a nice Grey-Green which seems to be good for drawing anything.

Oh yeah Sandra lots of us are big fans of water soluble Colored Pencils. I'm an Inktense nut myself! Though I have Aquarelle's too!
I would call myself an art supply junkie but then I think of Tom and say...Not so bad! LOLOL!
