I'm sure you don't need to be "put up with"! Anyway, if he had have come to the shop I would have made him buy you the nicest, most expensive card on the shelf!

Don't think 28 November is too late, I don't send mine till first week in December unless they're going abroad. You are so right about men and cards. I used to have a shop, a general convenience store selling fancy goods and greetings cards as well, and men used to come in the day before the wife's birthday or the day before Christmas even to buy their cards. Some of them actually used to get me to choose them as well! I used to joke with them and say "Do you want me to write in it as well?" LOL Some used to say "YES, PLEASE!"

Hi, Mo,

Good luck with the Christmas show. Hope you do have a go at your grandchildren, I'll give any help I can, just say, but if your pet portraits are anything to go by you won't need any help.

Hi Mo,

Not heard of Thurcroft but I do know Doncaster. It used to be a thriving coal mining area. Not any more, don't know whether that's a good or a bad thing. Coal mining must have been an horrendous job, but then again it caused a lot of unemployment when it finished.

Thanks for your nice comments on my artwork. I've not done very many portraits, just started really. I absolutely loved painting Emily. She is my grand-daughter by proxy. She is the daughter of Sarah, my partner, Neil's, daughter but she calls me "Grandma" which pleases me very much since I have no other grandchildren. Looking forward to Sarah having another one, she and her husband are saving up for it! Don't know about you but I find that if I'm doing a painting FOR somebody, it usually turns out better. Kind regards.

Thanks for your lovely comments, Mo. Where does your mum come from in Yorkshire?

When we had Thomas we also had an all black female cat called Susie. Both were rescued cats aged about 6 months. Within a week of Susie passing on we were down at the RSPCA and got two more cats. Charlie and Henry, both ginger, aged about 5 and 10 respectively. Sadly Charlie passed on 18 months later from suspected leukemia. Henry is now 15 but starting to look rather thin and not in the best of health.

I've scanned a photo of Thomas and you can see how much alike Scat and Thomas are. Must be a tabby and white thing.

Hi Maureen, my late mother-in-law was from Stanfree near Bolsover. She was always talking about the place and one day she did go back to have a look at it. Of course it had changed a lot.
