- About Me:
- I love painting, and started drawing in pencil as a child. I started oil painting in 1987, and it's been a wonderful, fulfilling hobby every since. I do some acrylics, but mostly oils, and would like to learn watercolors. I paint on canvas, masonite, wood plaques, conches (when I can find them) & sawblades.
I like painting wildlife, but I'd love to start painting the Irish country side, and hope to travel to Ireland some day.
Some of my favorite artists are Robert Bateman, Ken Carlson, Carl Brenders, Jason Rich, Carrie Ballantyne, Howard Terpning, Harley Brown, William Alexandar, and Frank Clarke.
The Portland Art Museum has had some highly notable exhibitions these past few years, and I've been lucky to see original works by Charles M. Russell, Fredrick Remington, Monet, Renoir, and more. Last year they did a feature on the Dutch Masters, including Rembrandt & Frans Hals...and you just can't know how beautiful and talented these old masters were until one sees their work up close. Their work is so much more than recorded history, the detail in the clothing, the facial expressions, and the subject matter is amazing. These traveling exhibitions are truly worth going to see at your local Art Museum.
