It's nothing much, but I now have casein paints and carton board that I will use for plein-air painting. I think the ammonia smell of the paints will prevent me from using them indoors anymore, but rather than go out into the field on July 11 and find out that caseins and cardboard (or caseins and me) don't mix, I thought I'd try a quickie painting right now. This is just an exercise, but it went fairly well and I think it's love:

These paints look natural and dry extremely quickly (even faster that acrylics, I think), yet they handle like oils during the brief window when they are wet. It will take some adjusting of my painting "technique," but once I get used to them I think we'll be happy together.
